Exam results are in and what a result, the first student has only gone and a got 99% Distinction!!
I’m not much a Bass Player
I’m not much of a bass player but today I thought I’d take it upon myself to tackle the bass line to I Can’t Help Myself(Sugar Pie Honey Bunch) by The Four Tops. Not the easiest of tunes but then again James Jamerson was a bit of a genius.
Such an underrated guitarist
Richard Hawley is such an underrated guitarist and I don’t think he gets the plaudits he deserves, I recently saw him at a gig in Bexhill On Sea and he is the business, plus he has vert impressive collection of axes 🙂
Rolling Stones Documentary
Highly recommend The Rolling Stones documentary Ole Ole Ole, film follows the band’s tour of Latin America concluding in their first ever gig in Havana, Cuba. The film also contains this great clip of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards explaining the origins of Honky Tonk Woman and this stripped down version.
Today I have mostly….
Today I have mostly been brushing up on the chorus section on The Jean Genie by the great Mr Bowie
What A Result
A fabulous way to end the year, text message on New Years Eve to let me know that one of my students has passed the RGT Preliminary Acoustic Guitar grade with a Distinction. What a great result 🙂
Charity Gig
Riff Of The Week
This weeks riff is Freddie’s Dead by the great Curtis Mayfield, sounds awesome with an Envelope Filter
Band On the Run
I don’t care what you say about Paul McCartney, Band On The Run is a great tune with some tasty guitar parts.
Kept me busy this afternoon anyway
Riff of the week(actually a fortnight ago)
Cracking riff this in the key of B played by the great Glen Buxton.
I would seriously recommend trying this, especially with the ascending middle 8 and outro.
